B Pillar Vinyl Covering - Blistered - Is it Factory Colour Underneath?

Hi Forum
Apologies if this has been asked before, I did do a search before for this, using B Pillar etc, but didn’t see anything related to this question.

But as you can see my 2017 QQ has on the B Pillar Vinyl, some blisters/cuts/scratches as shown in photo with similar on both sides of the vehicle. So my question is have people had this redone as warranty work, if it is likely to be a chargeable replacement rather than free under warranty (Nissan claiming wear and tear etc), then does anyone know if underneath this vinyl both b pillar area and at rear if it is it car factory colour underneath the vinyl, as it may look good with it just simply removed, so in my case grey borders around the tinted windows. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Forum. If you still have a Nissan Guarantee I would try asking a Dealer as it is only a question and questions do not cost whether the answer is Yes or No. They might respond. When we had our Juke we looked at some Stainless Steel parts that we first saw in the US and they look good for little money and there is now a Black option. So for little money you could add these parts as an option from AliExpress. Might be worth a look at as all defects should be covered - Dave 😉

Hi Dave
Thanks, I had already seen these on AliExpress, and thought about the glossy black ones. But as they are like decals then you are at the mercy of have they been cut exactly right and the correct length/angles. The other aspect was if the blisters are raised then you don’t have a smooth surface to apply these, so the blister may still show up, so then likely end up removing original Vinyl anyway, but if it was factory colour underneath then may not bother putting anything back on. If the look was good/different. But I will ask the dealership about the vinyl replacement as you say questions don’t cost you anything.

Take a look at this video and you will see the Paint Shop it looks like these Pillars Areas are painted, I cannot think that they would mask them off on an auto line - See Pic. Another option would be a Folie Specialist the Guys that change the colors of vehicles with Foil, it would probably be a doodle for them - Dave 🤨

I'd be interested to see what's underneath, as mine have started to blister & slightly come away from the door also.

Just to set you on the right path it does appear these can be obtained through Nissan although most probably an item not often required. Take a look at the Rear Door assemblies which might help you - Dave 😊

Driver side was peeling on my QQ. ordered a new wrap and had it cut and fitted at the garage I bought it from( they are not a dealer) cost me about a fiver plus VAT and looks like new again.

It would be interesting to see if any reaction has occurred underneath the wrap?

They are painted the same colour as the car under the tape, I know this as I have one that was peeling so I pulled it up a little to stick it back down.
You can still purchase the part and they cost around £10 each
