Handbrake button broke

Newbie, and more than a little disappointed that 3 weeks since purchase, the handbrake button just split into bits tonight.
Nothing broke per say, just came apart.
Is this common and how do I resolve it?
Just glue the button back together?
Thanks in advance
Car is a 17 J11.

Gridlock, as mentioned by Noddy if you still have a Guarantee then get down to a Nissan Dealer, they have your money and need to put defects right. You should not need to worry about repairing it yourself, but nice to know why it has happened - Best of Luck Dave

Another newbie here!! I have 2016 tekna so out of warranty. Parking button top has come loose ie the chrome surround and black cover but is hinging forwards from front. Can I carefully just glue this down again with something like tec7?

Parking button easy to replace. But expensive to buy new so have a look on ebay or local scrapyard

Are you using the button to apply the parking brake and release it? It is not necessary to touch it normally, parking brake comes on when the engine is turned off and should release when you pull away. In traffic just use the foot brake and on hills use the hill start assist. I do drive an auto and assume the system would be the same for a manual gearbox.
