I must admit that the fact that my fuel consumption doesn’t budge no matter how I drive and where doesn’t give me a peace, so I just bought Autel AP200 scanner.
Not really impressed with that scanner, actually a bit disappointed but that’s the data I’m getting for my O2 sensors.
Car is fully warmed up. Sensor 1 moving when rev the engine and sensor 2 is staying at 1.275V all the time.
No faults after full system scan.
Am I doing something wrong or the sensor is gone…?

Sensor 2 shouldnt really move much as it is after the catalytic converter, it should however be between 0 and 1 v as it is a narrow band sensor, it being about 1v tells me the sensor isn't warm enough, just because its idling and coolant is up to temp doesnt mean the downstream of the exhaust is hot enough.

Ideally you want the upstream sensor (wideband) going down to around 1 to 1.5v when accelerating hard and then when on over run up arpund 3.5 to 4.5 volts and when idling around 2 to 3v.

Downstream youd like to see around 0.350v and 0.700v. If its about 1v its probably not hot enough. Then again its not unheard of these days to see a wide and in a downstream but I havent seen it on a 1.6 dig-t. The new 1.3s are wide band both up and down but the 1.2 and 1.6 are wide up and narrow down as far as im aware

Thanks for your comment Lewis.
I'll try to test when on the move, to see the difference.
I can see that the diagnostic tool isn't that precise because it's not measuring in milliseconds so I can't get good waveform. I'll replace it with IcarSoft and do some more testing, before I report back here.

As Lewis said, the engine needs to be warmed up properly to get S2 O2 sensor in working condition.
It started when catalytic converter temperature was showing over 100deg.
I don’t want to make advert for icarsoft, as I can’t get real life signals compare to professional equipment, but it’s a lot more responsive compare to bluetooth Autel…
Thanks again!!!
Thats the signals I’m getting ( pictures attached )It looks all good.

Hi Guys,
I don't want to open another topic so will use this one.

I have check engine light on
Fault codes P0037 P0138 (post cat O2 sensor)
Plugged the diagnostic tool straight away and I saw O2 sensor innactive (1.25V on hot engine)
Deleted the fault code and all good for a week, then pop up again( sometimes with check engine light on sometimes only indicating Start/Stop system fault but the same fault codes)
so intermittent problem....
I went under the car and disconnect the sensor, spray contact spray, but that didn't help.
Sensor has been replaced 2 years ago at 20K milleage, now is 39500.

Battery is not FIAAM, and I can say that I drive for at least 30min twice a day, so charging is sufficient. Voltage is regulated very well to what I see(watching voltage on the hidden menu). However I cannot say when was the last time the battery was replaced. The car is just over 5 years old...

Using the diagnostic tool I can see that the Post cat O2 sensor get active after approx 5min of driving taking the coolant temperature and cat temperatures.
According to the scan tool all temperature sensors are showing correct reading.

What will be your plan of action in this case?

Any comment is well appreciated...

Just to clarify…
If the stop/start is off when the error occur, check engine light does not come up, but only stop/start not functioning message appear.
If stop/start is active when error occur then check engine light comes on.
Normally I delete the fault codes after work and leave the car overnight, then I can drive a week without any fault codes and the sensor will work correctly.

Just little update.
My Post cat O2 sensor stopped responding at all (Permanent 1.250V on the scanner tool)
Nissan told me that 2 years ago had a bulletin/Update which sensor needs to be put on, so as you can see on the pictures serial numbers are different (faulty sensor is the dirty one obv.). Sensor price just under £150. Can be replaced with 22mm combination spanner, without removing the undertray (10min job).
Nissan is asking for £270 for replacement.
In my surprise the new sensor comes with copper grease applied to the thread, so be extra careful not to allow any grease near the sensor.
I hope this will last, and help other forum members.
