Hi all,

I had a 1.5dCi qashqai then upgraded and currently have a 1.6dCi x-trail but looking to switch back to a new qashqai. Problem I'm being told is Nissan are stopping making diesel versions so they are going to be hard to come by. I do like the way the 1.5 dCi drove and diesels in general really and like the low down torque. I'm going to test drive a petrol does obviously but how does it perform compared? It's been a good while since I drop a little petrol engine and you had to rev the nuts of it to get moving or for any power. I am reading mixed reviews of the engine but what's your experience of it?

Thanks in advance.

Mixed reviews of the 1.3? Where?

It's a cracking engine.

It was mainly on YouTube reviews stating the usual "you want the more powerful diesel engine".

I suggest you test drive both, each to their own etc. But the 1.3 petrol is not lacking in power anywhere in the rev range and does not need you to drive its nuts off at all.

Admittedly I went for the 160PS version and the 1.5dci I had was pre DPF but this is a far superior performing engine without a shadow of a doubt.

Try it... I think you'll be amazed it's only a 1.3 under the hood.

Peter, totally agree with Pandjh. We had the 1,2L QQ a nice engine 115PS but lacking on hills so tested as Pandjh mentioned the new 1,3L many times. We finally went for the 160 PS + DCT Gearbox and this has turned out to be a very nice decision, a lovely motor coupled to a nice Gearbox with effortless acceleration - Dave 😉

Thanks guys. Yea the 1.5 dCi I had was only 4 years back so had a DPF. I will see if i can get an appointment with the dealers the weekend and try out a 1.3. Having tried both would you recommend the 160PS over the 140? It seems to be a little more expensive list price but gets a similar MPG and tax bracket.

Peter, Budgets are always a problem but if you have the extra I would recommend the 160PS. This is no Sports Motor but believe it or not with the DCT Box just from Traffic Lights it’s a Goer and my Boy Racer Days are behind. Our neighbor has a VW Phaeton and remarked last week on the Acceleration and smoothness of the QQ vs the older 1,2L QQ we had. I have never owned an Automatic before but with this DCT Box It is so easy and quite. As we mentioned, give them both a long test run on country and Motorways if possible. If you get a Demo with ProPILOT give it a test and see what you think.
There are some YouTube videos of QQ test drives which might help you also - Have a Fun Drive Dave ✅

Having had both, the 1.3L petrol 160PS is significantly better than the 1.5L dci 115PS
It's a while since I've done a real world, brim-to-brim mpg test but driving to work this morning (horrible weather, 60mph, cruise on, careful driving, on the M6) the car's computer calculated an approximate 60mpg, so not a massive hit on the pocket

Thanks guys, did you test both the 140 and 160 by any chance and would you say its a significant boost to the 160 over the 140?

I specifically wanted to switch to an automatic gearbox, so it had to be 160 ps
