Fan bearing found to have failed so new complete replacement fan housing fitted.
Cost £186.76 plus vat. Total for job which includes a standard diagnostic charge of £120 and environmental charge £6.27 total £710 .
Rattle and vibration from fan now ok.

Still concerned at a noise after switching off like a valve sucking and clicking. Does this 5 or 6 times then stops.
Phoned dealer service desk.
Not a very satisfactory conversation. Was told it was likely to be normal but had the car 5 years now and never heard it before.
Wanted me to rebook car in for check even though he thinks this is normal.
It appears to be too much trouble for them to get someone out from the workshop to listen to noise and advise me.
Reluctant agreement for me to bring it back in the morning but may have to wait for technician if he is in middle of another job.

If any one with same model can have a listen to their cars when switching off (bonnet up, may help) I would be most grateful.

Will post a report again when sorted.
Regards to all

Checked by technician this morning.
He has assured me noise is coming from fuel pump and is normal for this model.
Will check from time to time. Hoe he is correct. Nice and quiet now fan unit has been replaced. Still seams a bit odd that fan bearings would fail at 50000 miles
