Gloucester, this video was interesting showing the Stripdown, but was the Guy an Engineer / Gearbox Specialist / Scrap Merchant because the way he handled these delicate parts was amazing. Most likely was to show just a Stripdown.
Now we are getting back into the subject of CVT Gearboxes, we have this new DCT / EDC in our new QQ which IMHO is still excellent. When you read the Proposed Specs on the New 2021 QQ there is at present no mention of this Gearbox only a Manual or CVT Gearbox also for AWD. So my question is, is this a new designed CVT Box after all its existing Nissan problems over the years ? - Dave 😉

Just one of the reports around at present as Ref :
“It’s under the bonnet where things really change for the new car, however. Diesel is completely off the menu, with a slimmed-down petrol-only line-up taking its place. Buyers can choose from two 1.3-litre mild-hybrids, plus a unconventional e-Power-branded range extender model. Nissan’s 1.3-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine will be available with either 136bhp or 153bhp, and buyers will be offered the choice of a manual or CVT automatic transmission. CVT-equipped cars will also be available with all-wheel drive.”

I hope that the CVT is a typo.
My DCT gearbox is fabulous and I can’t imagine why they wouldn’t continue to use it in the future.

Judging by the state of the transmission fluid in the gear box, it may have failed because of that. I has a Mercedes B Class with a CVT gear box previous to my Qashqai and fluid changes were stipulated every 40000 miles which I complied with. Didn't have a problem with that car, and I anticipate I will be doing the same with the QQ. I do not see how Nissan can say sealed for life, oil does not last forever. Very interesting video though.
