Strange catcher on engine block

I have this strange catcher or what ever you call it, with a bolt on the other side, on my engine block.
What is it for? Any one knows. I never thought of it until today and I can't understand what it is for.

I presume you mean "bracket with captive nuts". I don't remember that but it might be a J11B feature not present on a J11.
Maybe it's used when dropping the engine in, in the factory?

Yes - attach slinger plates and out it comes!

Got about 20 of them 'slingers' that attach to that bracket, when there fitted they are very close to the bonnet when you close it so they get taken off, the one down the back left stays on and the one on the gearbox usually is still there
