Hi all , newbie here looking to pick your brain .
My sister has a 2013 qashqai 1.6 diesel and due to lack of oil the engine has ceased . She is looking to get an engine replacement but seems as she lives in Ireland and the car is a uk import there’s no 1.6 Diesel engines to be found , as the 1.5 dci was the common engine over here . Do ye know if the 1.5 engine would suffice as far as a straight swap 🤷‍♂️Would it affect gearbox 🤷‍♂️
Any info be great Tks

1.5dci was the common one here too; try this forum which specialises in J10 models.

I'd be very surprised if it would simply bolt on. The two engines are a different series not simply a bored or stroked variant.

There is a significant difference between the 1.6 and 1.5 diesel engines, not physically but in terms of engine management, turbo sizes etc. If you intend to swap the engine in completely with all the ancillaries turbo engine management etc I am quite sure it would fit ok but will be an extremely big job to do and the engine may need recoding etc after installation.

It may be worth looking at the old 1.6, stripping it down and see if it can be freed up. You can then rebore new pistons etc worth a try as I am sure a 1.6 to 1.5 conversion could be a nightmare.
