Engine noise opinions 1.3 petrol

Hi

I maybe worrying about nothing , but I prefer to share thoughts and opinions.

So here is my concern

This is only in reference to the latest 1.3 Petrol engines.

I recently owned a 1.3 160psi Tekna and noticed what sounded like an engine grumble / knock when the revs are being extended - not thrashed - so say 4000rpm and above.

I now own the same car with the 1.3 140psi engine and can hear the same noise.

I suspect its a characteristic of the engine , and might be a noise caused by direct petrol injection , but it really sounds like a bottom end knock.

The oil level is spot on , and both cars have covered approx 6000 miles.

Anyone else notice this noise ?

I have never noticed any such noises though don't often take it to 4000 revs.

Next time I'm out (and I remember to do so), I'll give it a go.

Sorry, nothing discernible here. Took it up to 5000 fast, slowly, in varying gears and I heard nothing unusual.

I'm normally the guy saying what's that rattle, squeak, creek, knocking... so I honestly don't think I would have missed it if it were there.

Just a thought - cheap fuel?

Buffy, this new 1,3L Motor is like a RR compared to the 1,2L you just do not hear it. As Pandjh has mentioned @ 4 > 5000 rpm nothing is really heard, even when going up the DCT Box.
Just a Tip you stated you have had a 160PS & now have a 130PS, if this is so you have the incorrect facts stated as both state
160PS, not being picky just noticed this - Dave

My wording was ....I now own the same car with the 1.3 140psi engine

So both are the same engine.

Furthermore , I agree , the 1.2 is an inferior engine , and I have lived with that too.

I think I will ask a dealer when we are allowed to sit in a car together

My question was are the facts below **correct (I am no teacher correcting you it just does not state 140 PS engine) - Dave PS Sorry if I am wrong !

1.3 Dig-t, 160 HP version, Dec 2020 New vehicle matched with the Dual clutch auto box.
Now I am generally tuned in to noises and my engine has a light ticking noise, exactly like a single loose tappet sound
It appears just as you put the engine gently under load and when the engine is on the over-run.
Years ago I would have got my feeler gauges out and set the tappet gap as that is exactly like it sounds but for now I will let it go and see what materialises as I have only done 1,200 miles.

Could I ask anyone with the same engine/gear box as myself to check if their engine will rev past the 3,000 rpm point while at a standstill in park or neutral before the engine limiter kicks in, which is what happens to mine.
Just wondering how a future MOT test in 3 years time will be able to do the high engine speed emission test if the engine won't pass 3,000 rpm when parked up ?. Maybe there is a way to bypass this feature for testing, as it revs past 3,000 rpm ok when under normal driving conditions.

We have a late 2019 QQ Tekna + / 1,3 DIG-T / 160PS / DCT Auto 7 Speed Box. On carrying out your request a few times the answer is NO ours won’t go above 2750 RPM - hope this helps Dave

mrugby, so firstly checked the Oil Level All OK, turned the Radio OFF, turned the AC Fan OFf, wound up my WiFi Hearing Aid - Result nothing heard - Dave
