Hi All-
My car stopped on the motorway three weeks ago whilst driving to a family weekend away (great timing). After three weeks sitting at the Nissan dealership they've finally done some tests and believe the cause is a misfiring cylinder.

I bought the car from a Nissan dealership in November 2020 with a one year extended warranty (driven 2,200 miles since ownership with 30k in total for the 2016 car).

I was however shocked to hear that I'll have to pay £504 for the investigative costs/stripping engine to see what's causing the misfire. I asked the Nissan dealer whether I'd get this refunded under the warranty (assuming the problem causing the misfire is covered), answer was no, responsibility of the customer.

Has anyone had any similar experiences and were they able to argue their case with Nissan for a refund? Thanks

Welcome to this forum.

I can't recall people commenting on claims made under extended warranty. I had so much trouble getting quotes for one, and finding them high, that I sold my car.

Your experience in being required to pay sounds strange but it would need a detailed examination of the T+Cs of the warranty to check it out.

I'd have to say that's what the document I received appears to say - Item 2

Makes me even more glad I traded it in!

However later on in Section 4 - T+Cs it also states:

Dismantling of Vehicle It is the responsibility of the owner to
authorise the dismantling of the vehicle and pay the charges if
such dismantling proves that the failure is not covered under the
warranty. We will only pay for the dismantling if it is part of a valid
claim and in accordance with condition 6.

That would seem to contradict what they're saying to you?

Thanks for that snippet of the T&C's.
My warranty leaflet is with the car at the dealers so will be looking for electronic copy tonight.
Mechanic said the cause of problem should be identified tomorrow......I'm still expecting nissan to throw a spanner in works and dispute any claim.

This is the third issue I've had with the car since November, (replacement tyre valve , faulty tyre sensor & misfiring engine ).....thinking of trading in and getting a Sportage
