Over the last few months I have noticed a vibration/knocking sound when pulling away or at low speeds. From the drivers seat it sound like the undercarriage or engine area but difficult to pinpoint. I recently had the car at the dealers for the recalls and mentioned this, they found nothing but I am not convinced they tried that hard. I will take it back and try to give a demo myself, the car has the classic and familiar front sensors randomly going off at low speeds, had the software update but still happens now and then. Has anyone else noticed this kind of knocking/vibration sound? Everything appears fine and the car drives great but pulling away in a 22k car and getting this sound is frustrating. Had the car since June.

Have you tried recording it - that might help explain things to the garage a little better? Even better if record the full sequence from pulling away until it disappears.

Open bonnet and start the car. There is black air intake on the passenger side of the vehicle. It goes from the front of the vehicle to the back of the engine compartment. The entire structure rattles. move it around a little to see if this is the noise that is getting under your skin. if it is, try using a couple of plastic ties to take the vibration away. I had the same problem, this has sorted it out until It goes in for a fix.

I thought that only applied to the 1.5DCi airbox. Though the symptoms are identical. Good job Nissan and the dealers "nuffin wrong guv" excuses strike again.

Mine started knocking from drivers side when on/off throttle at low speeds. Slow speed speed bumps also show same symptoms.
Been to dealers and found the drivers side strut top bearing to have premature failure, waiting to Datsun to authorise repair then book back in for work before 1000mile of towing this spring bank holiday.
2nd suspension issue in 40,000 miles. 1st was failed bushings at 32000 miles.
Mine is due out of PCP in November, I was going to buy it but I think this may be an expensive mistake.
Poor show on a modern car.

My 1.6 D engine Quashqai 2016 made a noise at low speeds on acceleration/ deceleration in 1st / 2nd gear similar the sound u get when a worn drive shaft ball joint knocks on full lock. I had a tow-bar fitted & mentioned the noise to the fitter. The guy was not available to ask what he did, but he sure fixed the problem whist the car was on the lift & what he did, did not involve replacing any parts, so i suspect it was something under the car / engine that needed a bit of adjustment.

Sounds like a common problem, but easily fixed.

Did you ever resolve this?

At the beginning of the year, I notice a creaking sound from the steering column or thereabouts when pulling away at low speeds. I mentioned it when I took it in for a service and they apparently had just received a bulletin about it. I have just had the work done, although I no longer heard the noise in the warmer weather but it was something to do with needing to replace inferior parts at the top of the suspension or something like that.

I now have to call them today though as it appears that they have broken the speed limiter/cruise control set button :(

TracyCK, what you have mentioned was covered under a post called "Steering Squeak when it's cold" if you are interested I posted a Diagram of what was done on our QQ here or open the attachment. These sort of questions can also be found by using the " Search" Facility also. Hope this helps you - Dave ;)

I read your post and just want to say thanks, so simple cost was a bit of tape and a hard sponge placed under the air intake pipe. So gald i read your post as i was about to go to the dealer and kick up a storm. Cheers Barry G
