Thanksgloucester wrote: ↑Wed Sep 19, 2018 5:18 pmYour car won't be affected (but don't quote me! )luka wrote: ↑Wed Sep 19, 2018 1:38 pm Hi. I'v just bought new Qashqai Tekna+. So I am little worried when i read everything about this 1.2 engines. As I said my car is produced couple month ago (were I can check in documents when it is produced), so do you have info is this issue still present on engines 1.2?
The serial number range is given on viewtopic.php?f=32&t=6787&p=57759
My car fell within the serial number range but seems to have been unaffected, albeit I decided not to risk it and got out. In the 2.25 years I owned it I never had to top the oil up, and I don't think the engine exhibited the noise people are reporting.
Nissan Qashqai, 1.2 dig-t, Tekna+
Your post reminded me I should probably check my oil level as it's now been 3 months since they replaced my engine with a new one.
It was bang on the same level it was 3 months ago.

So pleased I found this forum, I have a that seems to be burning oil and have a piston issue. Just out of warranty. In for diagnostics this week, hoping that Nissan will sort it out. It falls within the serial numbers listed in the bulletin. I will be taking this all the way, as I bought from a Nissan dealer in 2016, so with a known problem. Anyone else had it sorted out when it's out of warranty?
How did you get on with Nissan Desi?Desi16 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 12, 2018 8:40 pm So pleased I found this forum, I have a that seems to be burning oil and have a piston issue. Just out of warranty. I am also curious to find out as Arnold Clark (whom I bought the car from) has told be Nissan now need to fix the issue. This is solely due to me having Autocare (extended warranty). Nissan have advised they will keep the vehicle if a fault of this magnitude has been found and also I may have to pay £6500 for the new engine.
My car is a 15 plate, with 23k on the clock. Manufacture warranty ran out in June. But, I have evidence I asked the sales manager at arnold clark to check the engine as this is a known issue, which he came back to say that there was nothing wrong. I also have a video recording of the rattling noise the month I purchased it.
Can anyone advise on who I should put the pressure on and what legal jargon I can regurgitate?
Just inform your dealer that you have sought advice and have been advised to initially, formally aproach the dealer/manufacturer and request that the defect is made good and that the response from the dealer/manufacturer will decide if further action needs to be taken

Arnold Clark have already come forward to say they can't do anything, because it's not a Nissan dealer (they're a Ford dealer).

They've said once I've authorised an inspection they'll look at it themselves. If they find the engine needs replaced they will not release the car to me as its not fit for the road.PJB729 wrote:Next step try Nissan.
Also, I would have to pay for the new engine (£6500). The car is out of warranty, and they don't have an account with autocare (extended warranty company who would have covered £3000 of the cost, which is pointless anyway).
