So they said what I though they would,. Normal for a litre and a half, in 3000 miles. So we're getting rid before something else happens.

Hi all.
I first posted in June 2015 about oil loss on my Qashqai 1.2dig-t. The outcome was that Nissan had to replace the
engine after only 4000 miles. Recently I have again had fast loss of oil , this replacement engine doing less
than 29000 miles . My concerns were raised when I started getting rattling noises which sounded like a loose
Engine heat shield or something. I could not trace any loose shielding etc that might be causing this rattle . So
keeping a close eye on the oil levels , yet again they would dropping fast. As the vehicle was out of warranty, but
not having confirmation of another engine failure. Time to change I think.

Nope,. I'll send photographic evidence as the level was higher before and lower afterwards,. No point in me flagging a dead horse,. Never say never but think we're finished with nissan.

Mine doesn't seem to use any/much oil at all - 5,000 miles between services.

To whoever is interested! The root cause of this issue is known - wrong calibration of the ecu. Low pressure in the intake manifold conjugated with strong depression in the cylinder causes oil to be sucked up. This combined with the fact that this engine is missing a level sensor for the oil causes irreversible damage if the engine runs low on oil for a long time.
Be aware! The service manual asks to check the oil level on a regular basis!
If the engine still eats up oil after the fix it probably means that a new one is needed. When talking with the dealer don’t forget that this is basically a builtin engine fault.

Hi I'm doing 3k miles test, and my reading dropped by 30% after 1k.

Likely at the 3k miles done it will be at the minimum do we know when Nissan offers a new engine or is this acceptable for them?

I would like to see the bulletin about the issue .

I took mine back at 3k and the oil was just below the dipstick. The garage stated only 1 litre of oil. I disputed that with Nissan and they said. Book it back with The garage after 3000 miles. So far after a 1000 miles 3/4 of the oil on the dipstick has gone. The garage have said the oil loss for 3000 miles to them is acceptable oil loss. Not any car I've had before so I've sold it. Gone for a Toyota. Can't keep going backwards and forwards to the garage. Life's too short.
