I've had a good read through this thread and I couldn't find many examples of engine replacement. I initially thought that the issue is as enormous as Ford ecoboost failure. But it doesnt look like (please correct me if i'm wrong). Its very likely that most of owners of affected vehicles are not on the internet. This may be case for QQ as its more expensive than ford focus or fiesta, and majority of owners are over 40 or even 50 comparing to fiesta 20+

It appears that engine 1.2 dig-t failure does occur but at the moment cases are dealt by warranty repair/replacement. There may be more publicity when cars start going out of warranty (mid 2018) and when Nissan will start charging for engine replacements. How much will it be £10k for a new one?

Mines going to the dealers today 2 1/2 months and 3000 miles. Oil level is 5mmunder the minimum level let's see what they say. Not sure what it takes from max to minimum. Though the level just after the service was over the max notch.

So probably over a litre, have heard that can be within limits. 9 weeks after the service day. 3400 miles.

The manual states something ridiculous:

If the rate of oil consumption, after having
driven for 5,000 km (3,000 miles), is more
than 0.5 litre per 1,000 km (621 miles), consult a NISSAN dealer.

So basically they're saying the threshold from max to min marks (assuming 1 litre) is 1242 miles. That's about 5-6 weeks for the average car at 12000 miles a year.

4.5 litres in the engine, so according to that your engine only needs to do 5,590 miles for it to use the whole 4.5 litres and still not be classed as a problem

Yeah that's my understanding,. Have contacted NCS and raised another case. If there's no requirement for a new engine then my wife wants another make. I never knew before buying how much Renault bits are in it. All my work colleagues over the years all had problems with electrics, you'd see windows left open often with the aa round them.

My service was on 31st October, not sure how many miles I've done since then probably about 5000. After the service it was above the top notch, when I checked recently it was about a quarter of the way down.

I did have to add about 500ml to get it back where it was, which would suggest the difference between min and max is more like 2 litres than 1 !

But 500ml in 5000 miles isn't a worry to me, will probably be a 1 litre bottle between yearly services which is better than most cars I've owned.

Interesting that some seem to want to lay problems at Renaults door. I would think that Nissan operate as an autonomous entity otherwise lets just call every car a Renault. Cost sharing is obviously needed these days but my experience of owning 6 Renaults has been exemplary. I can honestly say that their dealer network has been second to none and any problems I have had have been fixed very quickly and with little fuss and at Renaults expense. I don't get that impression so much of Nissan and this is slightly worrying as I now own one! I have had Renault small and medium petrol engines (1.2 - 1.6) and recently a 1.5 turbo diesel Clio. Not one of these used any significant amount of oil between services.
