There is tips on how to check the oil on this engine.. Park level and remove stick..... allow car to drain down. 15 mins or so then you get a clean dip... Too much oil in engine is as bad for it...

I queried after my service that is was a bit higher than the high mark, and I was told at Nissan they just use a big jug marked with the correct amount exactly for the engine (4.63 litres) after it has been drained, rather than constantly pour a bit, check dipstick, etc. Basically was told they put exactly the right amount in and to ignore the dipstick.

Just to confuse matters, the QQ manual states:brownie4583 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 05, 2017 11:14 am I own a 15 plate Nissan Pulsar 1.2 DIG-T auto and it is booked in at Nissan for a full investigation due to excessive oil consumption.I have been monitoring this.
24,500 miles - full service
28,500 miles - 2 litres added
30,500 miles - 1.5 litres added
33,000 miles - 1.5 litres added
35,000 miles - 2 litres added
Total 7 litres added in 10,500 miles.
This can't be right and there is no evidence of any leak or smoke from exhaust.
If the rate of oil consumption, after having
driven for 5,000 km (3,000 miles), is more
than 0.5 litre per 1,000 km (621 miles), consult a
NISSAN dealer or qualified workshop.
So if you did 10,500 miles. 10500 / 621 = 16.9 * 0.5 = 8.45 litres
Which means the manual is stating anything less than 8.45 litres over 10,500 miles is no cause to consult a Nissan dealer. (and gives them a get out clause to brush you off I guess)

7 litres in 10,500 miles is excessive I think and no doubt I will be adding another 1.5-2 litres of oil to get me through to the next service in around 2,000 mileschrisw99 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 08, 2017 1:49 pmJust to confuse matters, the QQ manual states:brownie4583 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 05, 2017 11:14 am I own a 15 plate Nissan Pulsar 1.2 DIG-T auto and it is booked in at Nissan for a full investigation due to excessive oil consumption.I have been monitoring this.

My 15 plate 1.2 Pulsar went into limp mode on Friday had it towed to Nissan and been informed today that it needs a new engine.
Excessive wear and damage 35,000 miles.
It has now used over 10 litres of oil in under 11,000 miles
