My dealer topped with extra oil every time and I don't know how much they added the first times, but last week and 2400 miles after previous time, they added 1,5 liters.

Good day guys,

I do not own a Qashqai, but am in the process of buying it's twin, the Kadjar in 1.2 Blaze spec, 2017 Model.

Would you say this oil usage/engine issue only affects 1 in 500 cars, or is it now common? Has it perhaps been fixed by now?
I don't want to buy a car and have it sit in the workshop for half of its life?

Thank you!

I have very rarely checked the oil level on any of my cars over the last twenty years and when I have done it's almost always zero consumption, after reading there may be a problem with the 1.2 qashqai I thought I better go and check mine which is 7 months old and done 5,000 miles, the oil level is about 5mm below the max mark, as this is more than I have seen on previous cars I wonder if I might have a problem or is it just normal as I guess there is a running in period which maybe increases oil consumption.

johnboy, thats perfectly normal, no need to worry. Just top it up, then check the level properly straight after its first service and oil change and keep a regular eye on the level and top up little and often.

Johnboy, did you check it originally? It may have always been 5mm below Max.

Raised a case with Nissan Customer service as mine had its 3rd major service on the 12/01 its out of warranty, 01/02 oil left in the engine was 1.5 litres, told to bring it back in three months for an oil level check.. as its out of warranty in February wanted clarification from NCS whether the warranty wont count. Took me a good 10 minutes to convince the lady to open a case...The only fly in the ointment will be the mileage. Ive had the service every 12th of Jan 2016/2017/2018 and the last one at 37420 which is 13212 since the 2nd service so I'm not holding my breath much. So if they come back and said it won't be covered then were after another car.

service interval is 12,500 so the 3rd service should be at 37,500 and you were under that so hopefully mileage won't be an issue.

Just been told the warranty for the engine is extended for 2 years...great news,
The lady did say 'software' I'll ask for a compression test, etc Is that still the case?
