Sorry but mine is a 2016 car and had a new engine this year. When I asked if there had been any modifications I was told no, it's just unlucky.

A 2016 car could still have actually been built in 2015.

That's very true, I did wait for it as a factory order in May but the engine could be older I agree. The most worrying thing is the dealer says there have been no changes so can't see how it can be avoided. Just sounds like pot luck.

When I bought mine I asked about this and was told they had no way of tracking which vehicles were and were not affected. I was told to monitor oil consumption and it would soon be apparent if there was an issue.

24,500 miles - full service
28,500 miles - 2 litres added
30,500 miles - 1.5 litres added
33,000 miles - 1.5 litres added
35,000 miles - 2 litres added
Total 7 litres added in 10,500 miles.
This can't be right and there is no evidence of any leak or smoke from exhaust.
Next time you park up, park with your wheels fully turned to the left. Then you can have a good peer behind your drivers side wheel and see the lower engine and sump tray.

I discovered there was oil all over mine as though it had been seeping out through the seal.

See picture in earlier post...

Also does your engine make this noise on startup and gently revving at idle...

Someone told me this was a symptom of low oil, but it was in for a service last week and I was told on demonstrating this noise that it was normal and all early 1.2s make it (it's the noise of air being pumped in apparently). Wasn't happy with that explanation so asked them to investigate further during the service. Was told on pickup all noises normal.

Still don't think it is, but what can you do when you are told it is normal when you test drive the car, when you demonstrate it, and after they've investigated..

I had a very slight rattling noise, the garage put over 2 litres of oil in and said it could be the timing chain rattling because of low oil level. No warning light came on.

I think it's a lot more than 1ltr between the marks. Mine was about halfway down, so I assumed add 500ml which I did. Drove for a day checked again and it was 3/4. Had to add the remaining 500ml from my bottle to get it near the top mark.

So I would say it's 2 litres between top and bottom mark. Which is a bit worrying because the manual says anything above the minimum is normal, so they're saying you're ok to drive when 2 litres down??

Mine was in for a service last week and I checked the levels later that evening, and they've filled it about half an inch above the maximum mark.
