Hi @Pandjh just wondering how do you know it is 25%?

I had a car in the affected range and saw this number quoted elsewhere online. As it affected me personally, the number stuck in my mind.

@Pandjh yes close but did check that VIN range mentioned in the Technical Bulletin, and our car was outside of that, so the problem does extend to slightly newer cars.

Rough translation: "From 2012 to 2016, Renault and Nissan produced 1.2 TCE petrol engines to the norms euro5 (engine code H5FT & HRA 2 DDT) in the factories in Valladolid (Spain) and Sunderland (England).

As early as 2014, faults with segmentation and (tail of) valve were noticed.

In May 2015, internal notes (Active Solutions 10 575 and Nissan TB EM15105) confirmed an abnormal consumption of oil, which indicated an inadequate adjustment/setting of the engine management system.

In 2016, cases of meltdown of safety valves and sometimes accompanied by meltdown of ignition are identified by the dozens. A default on the rattling detection mainly on cylinder 3 is believed to be the root cause of it. This anomaly provokes LSPI (Low Speed Pre-Ignition) problems, seriously damaging the engine.

On May 24th 2019 the UFC Que-Choisir (a French consumer group) issued a warning asking Renault, Nissan, Dacia and Mercedes to call back all the vehicules affected.

By the end of 2017, Renault engineers were still looking to solve this anomaly.

The DGCCRF (organisation part of the French ministry for the economy) has been alerted and is in possession of incriminating evidence."

Thanks for the translation.

I'm still having problems with my engine, even after having the timing chain replaced last November. I took the car back to the garage for an extended road test (paid for by the finance company because they're doing the investigations), but the ticking noise was not present.

I checked the engine oil before the road test, and then after (when engine was cold) and there was more oil after the road test. The garage actually topped the engine oil up and are completely denying it. They said they topped up the brake fluid, but was still under the minimum mark. So I think they topped up the engine oil instead.

Also, I want to know if anyone can smell petrol from their engine oil? This is getting quite serious for me now, as there shouldn't be any smell of fuel in the oil.

Evening all,
We now have a 2015 1.2 with 45k and the engine seems to have a rattle in all gears from about 2k onwards.
The car is using no oil at the moment but starting to get concerned about the noise.
It still has 8 months Nissan warranty remaining so think I will call them regarding the noise.

Hi to all!

I am planning to buy used Qashqai, year 2015/2016. I came across 3 offers that I can take in consideration. All three cars are roughly the same apart from engine. They have different engines, DIG-T 1.2, DIG-T 1.6 and dCi 1.6. I was leaning toward 1.2 because that car comes with automatic transmission but than I heard about oil problem on 1.2 engines.

Can you tell me, are all 1.2 engines affected by this problem or I can somehow check it before I make purchase and be sure it won't happen in future? Also, are there any known general problems with automatic gearbox in Qashqai 15/16, which will move me away from taking automatic gearbox even in consideration?

There is a list of VIN numbers somewhere (maybe someone with a 1.2 will have the link) of all the cars affected.
You can check the car's service book, presumably a new engine will be recorded.
If I remember correctly the 1.6 diesel was only available as an automatic (a mate had one when I bought my 1.5 diesel manual)
