Hi Guys, I am new to this forum and I need some opinions please.
I bought a Nissan Qashqai 360 2012 plate 29k on the clock. Drove is fine for a few months although in the back of my mind it felt like a huge lack of power for a 1.6 petrol.
Anyway carried on passed service fine however a grinding noise started to appear when starting the car and when in neutral or stand still - took it to a auto gearbox specialist who said it's the primary bearings which is a common problem in QQ.
Had to get it changed which cost over £1k. Picked it up from the garage last week and the noise has gone.
But in terms of the drive of the car I need to know if its normal as when I drive the car constantly sits at around 3000rpm in town. When I let go of the accelerator is jumps down to about 1000rpm and then as soon as I touch the accelerator again it jumps straight back to 3000rpm to pick up speed.
Only when I have gone on a motorway and took it above 40mph did the rev seem to drop to about 2500rpm.
Can someone please confirm if this is normal? I'm pretty sure the revs were not this high before the car went into the garage.
Thanks.
Adil.

I was going to open a new topic on the CVT subject but hopefully I might get an answer along side yours. Mine is 63 model with 37K and I get the same problem with the high revs, which I thought was normal but I'm getting a more worrying issue when attempting to climb steep hills, a total lack of power and even with foot hard on the accelerator I can't get the engine to rev at all, at the start of one particularly steep hill the car came to a standstill!! and I had to get the engine revving hard before I could get going, albeit feebly. I've owned several cars with auto boxes, all standard fluid drive, but this one sucks, I'm just in the process of looking for a replacement....but not one with CVT!!. There's an American forum which talks about fluid overheating and going into "limp mode" on Nissan CVTs. My previous car was a Kia (automatic) in which I did 110K and was still running sweet, and doing more fuel mileage, so I guess the answer for me is to go see what Kia have to offer.

Have you pressed your accelerator beyond the soft limiter? I'd had my QQ CVT at least 6 weeks before I realised what you think is the pedal to the floor is just a firm switch and if you press harder it "shifts down" and throws you back in the seat. Discovered this when attempting to overtake on the motorway and thinking the QQ wasn't up to it, then maybe psychologically seeing the car approaching fast behind me I jabbed the foot harder!geno101 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 02, 2017 1:41 pm I was going to open a new topic on the CVT subject but hopefully I might get an answer along side yours. This has been a feature of auto gearboxes for years. It also works in a slightly similar way on a manual gearbox when using the speed limiter function.chrisw99 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2017 4:28 pmHave you pressed your accelerator beyond the soft limiter?
