Nissan have just issued Licenses for their NMRP Process Technology used in engine manufacturing to a World Leading German Machine Manufacturer HELLER GmbH which can be put to use by other engine manufacturers. This process eliminates the Cast Iron Liners usually used by roughing up the Bore surface allowing Spray Coatings to bond with the rough machined surface (Mirror Bore Coating). This looks to be used on the US (Japanese) engines at present. I was not aware that Nissan had Licensed Machining Technology - Dave ;)
