Eveining,

Can anyone tell me what the cost should be for the major cambelt service?

And would you advise having the waterpump replaced at the same time?

Also where do you all take them for the work. Is it a specialst job or will any garage know what they are doing?

Thanks

Just rang a Nissan specialist and was told to go to Renault. I know its a Renault engine, but surerly a Nissan Specialist could fo the job?

Wondering if i should call Nissan or Renault main dealer now...

Have you asked a Nissan dealer for a price?

When I had my Audi, I found that the dealer was roughly the same price as the local independents - the difference in the end, for me, was getting booked in to have it done at the dealer was going to take ages. And yes, I would say you should do the water pump - for the sake of £30-£40 more, it makes sense whilst they are in that far - make sure they do the tensioners too.

My first QQ was bought from a Renault dealer and I found a world of difference between the two. Diagnostic at Renault was £49 compared to £99 at Nissan. Most parts cheaper (and with it being a Renault engine genuine too). Even genuine Nissan parts were cheaper from Renault than Nissan.

The one time I did take it to Nissan was due to a recall, and they told me the turbo was noisy and wanted £1950 from me. Took it to Renault who said totally normal, they all make that noise. Drove it a further 50000 miles without problems before I went to my second QQ. If I'd have listened to Nissan I'd have been two grand down for no good reason.

Interestingly the dealerships were close together, and most of the Renault technicians and staff were ex-Nissan who said they'd moved because of the way Nissan operate.

Thanks for the replys.

I have gone to a independant garage who are able to do the job. They are using gates parts and will be doing the full cambelt kit, waterpump and aux at a cost of £340

£340 is pretty decent to be fair - the last cambelt I had done was on the A4 and that was £480 at a good indy (and it was a sod of a job for him too, but he stuck to his quote)
