Hello

I have a Qashgai 1.5 Dci 2.5 years old 72000km

Last week when a little cold in the morning 0-3 degrees, the engine was "slow" to start. it happen 2 days in row

I got a new battery 6 month ago (on warranty) so lot of power, and the starter motor runs just fine.

But from the starter motor starts turning till the engine starts, some long seconds went (so long as you start thinking, does it really start ?) that's to long.

So anyone seen the same or any ideers please :)

The air is colder and more damp, the diesel a little thicker. It sounds quite normal to me.

Winter fuels at the pump this time of year, should have an additive added by the oil companies to make for easier starting. Could you have some stale/non winter grade fuel perhaps? Perhaps fill up next time with some premium brand fuel such as Shell V Power.

Used to have lots of people who did not wait for glo plugs to heat up before firing engine which can cause starting problems when starting cold on diesel engines

My Qashqai have keyless start/stop and therefor a button to start the car

But your right, glove plug only lights a few seconds and then turn the engine?

Yes, start it as soon as the glow plug light goes out.

Try pressing the start button without pressing the clutch pedal down so you just get the ignition on, then start it after a few seconds longer wait.

I tried that, the glove plugs dont heat before clutch is pressed and button is pressed

A few things to consider regarding your situation.
Is it only on the colder days? Is it the same when the engine is warm?
Have you refuelled since the start of the problem? Have you used different fuel from a different provider?
Is the car acting differently during normal driving?
Prior to this problem did you allow the car to run extremely low on diesel, or had it been left standing for a lengthy period?

Hello again,

Car in at the dealer today, result all 4 glow plugs are defect, new has to be ordered from Nissan no time horisont (maybe Nissan is running out of glow plugs ?)

The plugs will be changed under warranty

But i am a little concerned, the is 2.5 years old (3 years warranty) and 72000 km already i had a new clutch (45000 km) new battery this summer and now 4 new glow plugs.

Maybe the Qashqai is a "toy car" not intended to be driven, as the parts brakes down all the time ? :-(

Previous car a old Skoda Superb 1.9 TDI with 230000 km on the clock when i sold it, and not a problem but normal wear. Discs and pads + timing belt at 150000 km, 1 glow plug and the dual mass flywheel at 230000 km :-)
Maybe Skoda again next time
