Hi all, my girlfriend has a 2008 Qashqai 2.0 DCI with approx 93k on the clocks. From reading around this seems to be the Renault / Nissan M9R engine.

Basically wanting to know when the timing chains should be replaced and if they tend to have a habit of breaking after a certain mileage?

I know Nissan say it is "fitted for life", but reading between the lines they define "life" as about 100,000 miles.

Mainly want to know if (based on peoples actual real world experience) it would be best to change the chain sooner rather than later. Her next service will be at about 100k and should be due in summer, but if they are known to fail at 80k and she is currently on borrowed time I might do it for her sooner.

Any advice appreciated!
