Sounds to me like Bosch is getting desperate, seeing a major part of its business, diesel fuel technology, disappear by about 30% in a single year. As most of you well know out here there are actions regarding the Euro 5 Diesels and I mean the City Bans. The priority set here was on what else but a “Software” Change from the Big Boys of the Auto Industry, the word that puts everything right
This is purely an update on the present facts if of interest and worth a follow up for the Euro 5 QQ Renault Engines - Dave
Now there is a light at the end of the tunnel between Dr.Pley SCR Technologies / BOSAL (Hardware Parts) and agreements have now been agreed on by the KBA (Federal Motor Transport Industry) who have passed an ABE (General Type Approval) which allows the Go Ahead for Hardware Modifications. The first Approval was on the 26,07. for Volvo Specific Diesels, then comes Mercedes on 31.07 and at present finally BMW on 15.08. There are around 5,6 Mio Euro 5 Diesels in Germany so you see what a Mamouth Task this could be. It appears here that the Go Ahead for Hardware Conversions has been given the Green Light for Euro 5 Diesel Conversions of the following manufacturers VW / MB / Volvo / BMW. The Companies involved are Dr.Pley - Bosal, Cost €3000-3600 inc installation, time 3 hours. Twintec-Baumont Cost €2000. HJS for conversion of Delivery Vans. Guarantee is stated as 100,000Kms or 5 Years. This has the official Government Go Ahead KBA / ABE, but the cost and if any financial support offered from the Manufacturers is still open, many Owners are making legal claims.

IIRC the current diesel QQ and X -trail are fitted with the Ad-blue system.
I think that the "my ad-blue system isn’t working" messages started almost immediately.
More to do with software than the underlying engineering I suspect.
