AdBlue:
I see that Nissan have AdBlue on the 5.0L Nissan Titan manufactured there; is that the thin end of the wedge that will find it's way here in the future on diesels in EU?
This is an interesting article explaining the technology:

Gel, "is that the thin end of the wedge that will find it's way here in the future on diesels in EU?"
Gel you are correct regarding the Titan Truck but the Navara (Pickup) also has this System. In the EU there are several Manufacturers already using AdBlue Technology with SCR. There are also the "Hardware" Co's Twintech, HJS etc... (as posted) that are using the "Hardware" Technology vs Software Upgrades as being used on the London Buses - Dave
Nissan just announced its new almighty TitanXD model, which will be the first to comply with the Euro 6 emissions standard. Nissan will use SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) technology to reduce polluting emissions from its powerful 5 litre engine. Its new model will be equipped with a tank of Adblue with a minimum capacity of 15 L, necessary for the operation of the SCR system. The Nissan TITAN XD 2016, powered by a 5.0 l V8 Turbo Diesel Cummins, is now available for purchase at Nissan dealers in the United States. Its marketing in Europe will start in 2017.

The Nissan Navara pick-up truck has been upgraded with a new range of Euro 6 engines (2016). The new engines use a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system which means an AdBlue tank has had to have been fitted to the Navara, that will hold 17 litres of the urea solution allowing up to 7,150 miles between refills.

Adblue has been fitted to many car Diesel engines for a couple of years now. It was being introduced on the small Peugeot diesels when I was choosing cars that resulted in the purchase of the Qashqai. If they had it available at that time, 3.5 years ago I would have bought one, but although they had both versions, with and without, in the price list, the deliveries of BlueHDi engines had not started. There was quite a large difference in fuel economy figures between them, in favour of adblue SCR versions.
Oddly, Volvo has had Euro6 compliant engines for a couple of years but only recently started fitting Adblue/SCR systems to their cars. The XC90 with Adblue has slightly inferior economy figures, which is counterintuitive and casts some doubt on the accuracy of previous figures in my opinion. Its almost always the case that SCR equipped engines can run hotter and more efficiently and therefore use less fuel, because the emissions no longer need to be optimised at combustion but afterwards in the exhaust. Another benefit of this is that less soot/particulates are produced from the hotter combustion. Remember that a hotter flame always runs visibly cleaner, although in engines they produce more NOx which is what the Adblue and catalyst converts into nitrogen and water.

Given how atrocious the diesel Qashqai's real-world NOx performance is. I'd say this is extremely necessary.
The 1.6 DCi CVT QQ has been tested to emit over 18 times the legal limit of NOx. (source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/resources/idt ... ar_exhaust - see "The Truth" section at end)

It won't be long because all the systems have just been fitted on the production line to fill the tanks ....
That’s interesting!paulyoung666 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 18, 2018 5:50 pm It won't be long because all the systems have just been fitted on the production line to fill the tanks ....
I wonder if some sort of AdBlue system could be retro fitted?

gvmdaddy, unless I have misunderstood this „Adblue“ System comment this is a Retrofit System as mentioned above and on the Diesel Emmission Posts from the Companies Twintech & HJS plus more - Dave

This might be of interest as there is another Player in the Retrofit Systems called Dr.Pley SCR that is being mentioned on TV and in the Press out here - Dave
