Strange noise on pulling away

As it's sunny.. ish .. the windows are down.. (occasionally!) I've noticed my 1.5 DCI Tekna has a weird high pitched fizzy noise at the top end of accelerating away in 1st/2nd gear. You pull away and engine noise is 'what you'd expect' in fact rather nice and throaty, but at the end of the rev just before changing up there's a squirty fizzy fairly high pitched noise for a second or two. As I say only noticeable with the windows down. Any ideas gratefully received?
