Picked up a new 2018 1.2t yesterday, I popped the bonnet and I noticed there was no engine cover, I had a google and see some pictures of the engine without one and some with one, should it have an engine cover this is the black plastic bit on the top that would usually have the Nissan branding ?
cheers
1.2t 2018 model should it have an engine cover ?

I thought the same. I had a double take when looked under the bonnet!
Went straight to manual book and looked up engine image. Disappointing isn't it?
It sure doesn't look like any previous engines I've had.
I suppose as long as we don't have any issues who cares what it looks like.

I do not want to sound negative, but when I have interest in a new vehicle I do ask for a Brochure, check the Demo Model, check the Nissan Web and read up on what it has and what are the Specs before purchasing. So mine was not a surprise but I do miss the days of the Ally or Chromed Cylinder Head Covers did somehow set the motor off - Dave

Hi
I have a diesel, and indeed have a black cover. I am quite surprised to see that the petrol models are missing this finishing touch! Also are Nissan still using the dreaded FIAMM batteries? The battery in your photo Pap looks exactly the same as the one I had to have replaced as the dreaded FIAMM battery!

A good spot Daddy,
This looks just like the FIAMM Battery the RAC removed from my car a couple of weeks ago as it went bad.
