No a 1.5 dci
1.5dci has a rubber/synthetic timing belt, not a chain and won’t sound anything like the video. There may be a heat shield rattling as you go through the revs or something similar.
Yep, this issue is only for 1.2 dig-T engines, where a particular batch had a problem with the piston rings causing oil starvation to the timing chain chamber and sometimes oil loss from the engine.
I'd be more concerned with what you said in your other email, £150 to diagnose?? Mine cost £50 to diagnose at a Nissan main dealer, and they waived that charge once they realised it was a major warranty job anyway.

Not good. Nissan are really going down the pan.
Quite sad.

I've messaged Chris and Duvall regarding this.
Basically our Nissan Pulsar was recovered January 15th had new engine replaced. Cruise control then didn't work. They've replaced the alternator, ECU, carried out software patches and updates, wiring loom replaced and much more as they scratched their heads trying to sort it out.
It's now 8th July and we still don't have our vehicle back.
We have a copy of a telephone conversation with Nissan where they admit that the engine was built with a manufacturing defect and we also obtained a copy of a technical bulletin released in December 2015 advising Nissan garages that certain engines will have excessive piston ring wear and possible oil loss ..... resulting in replacement of engine. Nissan are still selling these engines even though they know there's an issue with them.
Dickson's of Inverness have replaced 13 engines in the last 12 months ..... 6 of them exactly the same as ours. Now there's 240 Nissan garages in the Uk so you work out the figures yourself ...... oh and Dickson's isnt a very big garage in Inverness

Hi there, my Jan2016 1.2 T QQ broke down on Monday, it had been making a similar noise to the video but not so loud. Checked oil a few months for it to be completely empty, refilled it & noise subsided. Small noise appeared again a few weeks ago, I have been keeping my eye on the oil levels which were dropping but still ok. Engine lost alot of power while in fast lane of motorway & dashboard was flashing system fault. We limped off the motorway & engine sounded awful. I had my 7yr with me which wasnt much fun either!! Recovery guy plugged in computer for it to show misfiring on all 4 cylinders & there was no oil in the engine it had all gone again. Car is now at Nissan having a new engine after only 30k miles. To say I'm disappointed in the build of this engine is an understatement. Thank goodness it has warranty left!! We always buy cars new or nearly new & keep them for a long time which has worked well with my other cars but this is my first Nissan. I'm now unsure whether to trade it in after new engine? Will I get a further warranty? Can't see that this car will last the length of time I was expecting. Any thoughts appreciated.

becksbe - it would be useful if you could advise the mileage on yours. Having seen all the problems on here I decided to get rid of mine before anything happened - it was on just under 20k
