Dave - surely the number you've quoted includes all Qashqai engine variants, so the 1.2 proportion will be a fraction of the total you've calculated - maybe 10%?
In fact before posting I thought I'd see what Autotrader is listing - there are 2436 Qashqais for 2014-2015. Filtering on 1.2 gives 872, a higher proportion than I'd expected. So around 35%

Gloucester - I realised once i'd posted it that you had in fact parted company with the vehicle .... unfortunately this issue is not just relevant to Qashqais. Ours is a Nissan Pulsar and I am aware of several other makes that have the same 1.2 DIG-T engines in them.gloucester wrote: ↑Mon Jul 09, 2018 1:55 pm Slioch - I solved the problem once and for all with my car - I sold it !?!?!

Yeah we read that article very early on. I'll pm you regarding it just in case my comments are noted.
The worrying thing about this is that I've been reading for years on here about the 1.2 dig-T problems and thankfully mine showed no issues. Until earlier this year when I started getting the oil loss, and then recently the timing chain rattling which caused Nissan to end up replacing my whole engine.
Luckily I'd taken out the extended warranty as this happened outside the original 3 years, but the fact it didn't show up until 3.5 years old means this could be a potential time bomb for anyone with this engine out of warranty but not yet showing symptoms.
The HRA2DDT engine is advertised as having a "lifetime timing chain". Coupled with the bulletins posted here, I suppose anyone out of warranty could argue this was a fault from day 1 with the car.

This issue has been on-going since early 2014. I joined a couple of Juke forums before I bought a 1.5dci - there were numerous threads w.r.t. the 1.2-dig-t engine in the summer of 2014
