I understand most of duncho’s post, however like others I fail to see how no extra fuel is consumed yet the mpg drops significantly.

There might be slight change in fuel consumption, but this is hardly recognizable on my car. I recognize DPF regeneration by slight change of engine noise, especially while I’m driving slowly on light throttle.

Thermoplungers are located on right hand side (view from outside in) behind the front bumper, very close to engine cooler. It is described in detail in the service manual. You need to connect the LED to one of the 4 contacts shown on the photo below.

Don’t forget that thermoplungers have also other function, which is to shorten engine warm up time in cold weather, so your LED will also indicate electric preheating of the engine.

So electric heaters as I said previously, that explains it nicely thanks. But that 2.1 kW of electrical energy can only originate from the diesel fuel.

So far Nissan uses particulate filters on diesel motor cars only, but gasoline engines will be equiped with GPF soon (if not already).
2.1kW load is not that much, it is only 1/45 of 1.6dCi engine power ;)

Morning all,

I had a engine amber warning come up last week on my Qashqai, took it into Nissan who have replaced the O2 sensor under warranty.

I now have an interest in the DPF system and how it can cost if not careful with driving habits but find reading this DPF regen process a wee bit too techie for me, so wish to understand when just normally driving my J11, 2016 CVT Tekna, how I can tell when the DPF is regenerating?

Thank you in advance.

Hello there
Is only the thermoplunger working when the DPF goes into regeneration?
How should the method be to make a connection by connecting a cable from here?
Or what other method is there to let me know when DPF regeneration begins?

Good morning everyone.
I was trying to figure out where the thermoplungers are positioned on the qasqai J11 1.5 dci 2014.
I was going to put a LED to figure out when it regenerates, without using ODB and nissap dpf monitor every time.
Could someone post a photo of the engine compartment with the exact location of the thermoplunger?
I searched but to no avail.
I hope it's accessible without disassembling the bumper.
Thank you.
