Hi all can you please all post on here if you had trouble with gearbox I am doing a research to make Nissan do a recall like America and Canada did. They got there cars repaired with a ten year guarantee.
My gearbox on Ntec 1.6 Nissan Quasqai started to make grinding noises and lack of power has been a problem .
The bearings inside come loose and Nissan do not repair only replace at a cos5 of £7760.00 this could also go again mine went at only 23000 miles,I have contacted several specialists Automatic garages and they have all said this is a common problem .
I got them to email me how many they have had to repair and state this is clearly a recall Nissan should be admitting to so we all need to get together to stop this it is daylight robbery to us jo public. Please all post your stories as Iam going to court with this.

Very good initiative. In USA they loose all the process and like you said give 10 year warranty to all CVT.

In europe they sell the car, make money and then the dealer not hear anything on the car when go to them with different problem like: CVT jerk, whistle, front sensor sudden activation, rattling, suspenssion knock etc. because no one go to court against Nissan to create a precedent case in justice.

Not any more, they only did that for 2003 to 2010 manufactured vehicles as there was a known fault with that CVT unit. Since 2011, the CVT is supposed to be fine so they don't do the 10 year warranty anymore.

2003-2010 Vehicles equipped with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) also have a 10-year /120,000 mile CVT limited warranty extension.*

Hi - Jane63 - I am just going through it all with a Qashqui Gearbox failure - 6 year old car, 36000 miles and yes Gearbox failure. I AGREE WE NEED TO RAISE THIS AS A NATIONAL ISSUE, (they did in USA and that worked.) I know of 6 other vehicles - QASHQUI / JUKE's the 24000+ on and they are all faulty right NOW.

We need to act on this as Nissan are denying there is a fault - apparently their Customer Service has never heard of a gearbox issue with Nissam !!!

We need to get the National Press and Watchdog onto this campaign.

Hi Ash59
Similar problem here as well.
Six year old Qashqai less than 30,000 miles gearbox kaput, this should be covered by warranty
There is obviously a problem with the reliability of this transmission

My Nissan quasqai 2013 developed gearbox issues in 2017 . I went to the dealer but declined to help because I didn’t do my service with them. I then contacted Nissan directly, spoke to the MD named Amber who took over the issue and made sure that it was replaced. I only paid a little above £800 for the work. This was done in May 2017.
Now, 2019 about 2years after, it has developed again. I am yet to get to Nissan. I only packed the car in my garage and use my wife’s.
I want to believe that there something wrong with the car .

Amber was really helpful in dealing with the issue. I have attached one of our correspondence here

Hi I bought 2015 Qashqai 1.2 Automatic - 8 months ago from local car dealer. About 1 month ago my car started showing some problem. Specially in the morning or evening when car is cold, when i start the engine and put it in reverse or drive great car really start jettering / erratic gear shifting, car shakes so badly and stops, after driving 10 mins and when car get worm up then its fine. Still when driving on motor way car is running like kangaroo and RPM scale is jumping up & down and doesn't stays stable.

I showed it to that car dealer they said car is out of their 3 months warranty and its out of Nissan company warranty too as its over 3 year old.
They said its transmission issue and ask me to take to transmission specialist. Transmission guys said it will cost £2000 to fix it without even looking into.
i showed to 2 local mechanics and they have no clue.
Local Nissan dealer don;t have appointment to diagnose the issue for next 4 weeks.
Could anyone suggest or think what could be the issue. thanks

Hi Manish,
Did you get any response back from Nissan's Customer service? I'm also experiencing problems with my Qashqai (automatic transmission) as hearing noise from the engine while driving. I showed it to a local garage who said that it's a gearbox issue.

Did you find any solution with Nissan on this matter?

Any guidance from you will greatly be appreciated.

Kind Regards
Nitin

Dear Mr Ikumawoy,

I'm experiencing very similar problem with my Qashqai. It's automatic transmission/62 plate and done only 33,000 miles so far. I'm getting strange noise from the engine when driving. I showed it to a local garage guy and he immediately said it's a gearbox problem. Just wanted to know if Nissan is accepting this as a faulty part and agreeing to replace the part.

I noticed that Mr Ikumawoy was helped by the MD of Nissan Motors in getting the part replaced by Nissan on just paying the labour cost. Is Nissan accepting their fault for this faulty part in the cars as it's very strange that the gearbox has gone faulty in just 33,000 miles.

Any guidance in this regard will greatly be appreciated.

Kind Regards
Nitin
