Hi all, first post on here...

Took my wife’s 65 plate 1.6 petrol for a service and its first MOT today. Had a call from the garage to say it failed on emissions  I don’t have many more details yet, the technician said it should be at 0.0 something, and ours was reading over 2, so way over and running very rich apparently. No warning lights or power issues.

Anyone else had similar issues? I had to leave the car at the dealers for further investigation as they are a bit non-plussed. Thankfully it is just under 3 years old (by a few days!) so anything significant should be covered under warranty, but very surprising for an engine that has only done 29k miles.

TIA

Jonathan

For anyone interested, after a lot of investigation, turns out one of the Lamda sensors was faulty, but, it was not reporting any errors to the ECU. So, as far as the car was concerned, nothing was wrong. No idea on how long it has been like that or whether it could have caused any long term issues. Will get more info from the garage when I pick it up tomorrow

Shows the increasing reliance of modern cars on little bits of electronics that can fail without being apparent. Could have been like that from new!

Would be interesting to know how much extra fuel you've burned due to this, probably ££££s
