Hello all I’m hoping someone can help me!

I have a 2013 360° qashqai 1.6 diesel with 78k miles. Recently I have noticed that whilst driving my revs will suddenly drop by 500-1000rpm my car will feel hesitant/sluggish then out of nowhere rpms will pick back up to where they were before. This is all happening whilst on the accelerator. For example I will be doing between 50-60mph in 5th gear about ready to change into 6th and my rpms will drop 500-1000 then after a few seconds pick back up where I left off. This also happens in 6th gear.

I’ve been told it could be my clutch wearing out but my clutch isn’t loose, it doesn’t have higher than normal rpms, there isn’t any burning smells etc.

Does anyone have any clue what this is? How best do I fix this? Is this a known problem with Nissan?

Thanks for any help 🤗

With a worn out clutch, the RPM will increase without a speed increase under acceleration, not the other way around.

Does the engine RPM drop that you can hear? At a total guess, it could be an issue with a sensor in the gearbox (speed). Have you checked for fault codes with an OBD port scanner?

That’s what I thought as well but I’ve been told it could be clutch. I’m going to say that it does as my car does a low humming noise until it restores back to normal rpm.

I haven’t checked anything as I’m not very up on my car knowledge just didn’t know if this was a known Nissan fault or if it’s just a general thing. It’s booked in at a garage for diagnostics tomorrow so I’ll see what they say!
