Hi All. Firstly i should point out that i am certainly no mechanic but read that this was a common issue and could be easily fixed without spending huge amounts at a garage.

Qq J11, 1.6DCi, Automatic, 65 plate (warranty expired in January).

I have been struggling with what started as a P0136 error which i understand to be a O2 Sensor Circuit Malfunction Bank 1 Sensor 2, which i believe is post cat. I have not been able to find any information online as to 'where' this O2 sensor actually is.

I climbed under the car and found the sensor in the attached image. It is fitted to the top of the exhaust pipe about central just behind the front wheels so i assumed this was the correct sensor. The sensor is a 5-wire, but i see replacements come in both 4 and 5 wire. I removed it, gave it a clean with some sensor cleaner and reinstalled it. No improvement. I then got a replacement from ebay (after Nissan quoted me over £300 for the part alone) and fitted it. I now have a several more errors that I started with.

P0136 remains
P0141 New - O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 2) – Downstream
P114D New - P114D - Post Catalyst Fuel Trim Via Oxygen Sensor System Too Lean Bank 2

Have i replaced the wrong part? Is anyone able to offer any advice or a picture on where the correct O2 sensor is located? I have spent around £50 on cleaner, tools and replacement part so far and have only managed to make the problem worse. I am completely defeated. Any assistance that anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated.

If the original sensor is in tact have you tried putting it back to see if the NEW DTCs disappear? Try clearing them.

When I changed an O2 (lamda) sensor on a BMW 2ltr a few years back I had to take the car out for a "learning" lesson. Not saying that happens with your QQ.

Thanks Calnorth. I cleared the errors manually last week but the came back unfortunately. I figure i either bought a duff part or am replacing the wrong sensor entirely

Often the sellers on the web (not eBay) will tell you the sensor type needed...if you contact them. And there should be two... before and aft of the cat converter. Generally they'd both be changed at the same time. Trouble is you can't test them prior.

The BMW one I changed a few years back was about £70 and NGK. Should run about 70k miles before it creates rough running..

P114D Bank2....isn't that related to a twin exhaust system?

I have same car same age warranty expired same time spooky And I had po136 which I cleared but kept returning so I was lucky in that it occurred during warranty so lookers of LEEDS sorted it in under an hour had the part in stock which tells me it’s a common fail item no issues since

Out of interest, how much did they charge for that part? I was quoted over 300 quid from the nissan parts team

Hi, I'm having the same error code and have been looking at replacing the lambda sensor (o2 sensor). Did you find the answer to which is bank 1 sensor 2?

Hello, sorry for my bad language.

Anyone solved this problem, and can help

I’m also have have fault code P0136 O2 Sensor Circuit Malfunction Bank 1 Sensor 2.
But when using diagnostic i trying reach voltages of two sensors, they both giving wide range voltage 0

Tried disconnecting the sensor and clean it. When I disconnected computer generating another fault
P0141 o2 sensor heater circuit (bank 1 sensor 2), but when I connect, this fault disappears. So, I think heater working properly.
But P0136 (O2 Sensor Circuit Malfunction Bank 1 Sensor 2), after some driving, come backs.

So, can I expect, that when I change Bank 1 Sensor 2, problem can be fixed ?
