Hi,
I have a Nissan Qashqai 1.5 Dci it was registered in December 2014. After a phone call with my local Nissan garage they confirmed my timing belt is due by December and quoted me £441inc.
I need to understand if this is a job i should only go to Nissan for or if its normal to go to a local garage to save on costs? I've heard in the past when a timing belt is changing the water pump should be changed as well, does this apply to QashQai? Are there any other items that are a no brainer during a timing belt change? The car has 40k mileage.
Thank you.

Not sure wrt the timing chain costs.
However, the expensive aspect of having a new water pump is the labour. As the engine is in bits to fit the new chain it’s surely common sense to install a new pump

Slimzee, this might help you with your question on Replacing the timing belt on your Nissan. Prices (£400 + 175=£575 inc Pump) are from 2017 but will give you an idea and understanding of what your expected outlay will be - Dave

Shop around - some dealers are cheaper - for example £250 at https://www.charleshurstgroup.co.uk/nis ... ming-belt/ (yes - ~ I realise this is in Northern Ireland). However only slightly more (£309 in the South West at https://www.southwestnissan.co.uk/servicing/cambelt/. These costs are probably without the water pump but that's not going to be much more.
My Skoda Fabia cost about £380 over ten years ago - and that was after swapping garages.
