Had this pop up today, an hasnt gone off. In my area weve had alot of rain so could it get water in from puddles? Or due to the fuel?.

So problem came back again. Im now thinking maybe bad fuel. Or sensor/filter. I wondered if any body else has had this?

I took my Qashqai 1.5 DCi 110 hp Tekna Premium yesterday to the garage for repair after a few days with the "water in fuel filter" warning light.

I acquired this car brand new this month, at a good deal price considering that is already an "old" model which was not sold in due time at late 2018. So, still under warranty and currently with 332 Km, with the tank only once filled in at the closest gas station from the car dealer, right after I've received the car (about 3 weeks ago).

They replaced the fuel filter at the garage (at no cost for me) and the panel warning was reset not showing up any more (so far).

I was told that possibly the diesel fuel pump at the gas station I had visited could have some water mixed in and that the car sensor is very sensitive to small amount of water.

I found that explanation not too convincing and hope the issue will not reappear. I'll try also to refill fuel only at better brand gas stations, just in case.

Many years ago...about 1967. Water pumped into my VW Beetle tank at a garage on A38 near Weston Super Mare on a very rainy day. Think I saw a tanker standing at that garage with hose into main storage tank at the time. Engine spluttered and cut and in those days of Carburettors...no warnings. Opened carb and found water in float chamber. Removed car fuel tank and emptied out about half a pint...can't remember exactly.

Also saw it 4 years earlier with leaf or some debris in a car tank. Engine periodically cut. Tank out and clean.

Never seen it since
