I have a Nissan Qashqai 1.6 Visia 5d 2007 Model that has developed a loud grinding noise when driving. The higher the speed the louder it gets. I have now been looking around for a replacement but have been getting used ones that I thought were a bit pricey (around £450+) considering the value of the car.
I am considering looking for a Renault gearbox as I have been made to believe that my car model has a Renault gearbox. I was wondering if someone could point me to which Renault car has the compatible gearbox as these would come considerably less expensive.
My car has a 5 SPEED MANUAL GEARBOX (1.6l 16v Petrol HR16DE).

Sure its the gearbox? Could be just the thrust bearing, although that normally make louder noises with revs rather that speed. Could be the drive shafts. Don't guess, it could cost you money, let an expert have a look.
