New clutch

Bought my first qq used 61 plate 1.5 dci. The garage said it needed a new clutch, so said it would have one done before I get it.

How can I tell if its a new one, because I need to fully compress the clutch to change gears, and can't say first to second gears are not smooth.

Any help before I ring the garage back.

Sounds like it's been changed, clutch bite will be at the bottom of the pedal stroke if it's new and at the very top if it's worn out, well that's my understanding anyway.
