My opinion of these boxes is that there MUST be a drawback somewhere.

If they were so perfect then don't you think that a manufacturer the size of Nissan would have been able to tune their engines likewise?

Something MUST suffer, and although that's most likely emissions, it could be consumption (despite what they claim) or something else.

You don't get something for nothing - or even €845.75!

That `s true . Worried about engine damage and useful life of it too . But ... temptation !
And one thing : car manufactures sometimes deliver several versions from one engine like Renault Tce-115 , 120 and 130 from same platform .

Yes - I've often wondered about that.

For example the Nissan Qashqai would you believe. What's the essential difference between the 1.3-140 and the 1.3-160?

Apart that is from £1100 !!! A lot of money for an electronic tweak perhaps?

Upping the HP could call for suspension and drive train upgrades as well...to be safe. Margins have to be maintained as regards the torque generated and speed acquired.

On the other hand. The engine is mechanically designed for 160 and then a different ECU mapping is employed to meet green tax stuff. Don't want to make a different engine when one can do all...by ECU configs.
