Dose the 1.5engine have a growling sound worse when cold

Most Diesel engines are quieter when up to temperature.
I never found mine to be bad from cold and it had 70K on it

Maybe a better description please

It’s like a growling noise when cold when engine is hot it’s ok. Not the growling
