Has anyone over here heard or read anything on this new standard for motor oil?

There's lots of buzz over here in the Nissan forums concerning the replacement of the old API SN + type of synthetic oils in SAE 0W-20, SAE 5W-20, SAE 0W-30, SAE 5W-30, and SAE 10W-30. From what I've been able to read about it, it seems to be 'super oil', with much higher standards of wear prevention and corrosion protection that the old SN+ standard. Thoughts, anyone? :?:

Here's the link to the Pennzoil page that talks about it and the differences between the A and B standards.

Sommergirl, I must admit this Spec is new to me normally something pops up in the Motoring Press but I cannot remember seeing this regarding the GF-6 Oil Spec. There are a few oils with the ILSAC GF-4 / GF-5 Specs around though, hopefully someone else knows more ? I Did find some general information but it is mainly US stuff - Dave 🤨

“The Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA) encouraged its members to adopt API and ILSAC GF oil specifications in the 1990s. Currently, Toyota, Subaru, Nissan and Honda recommend using API-approved engine oils that meet GF-5 specifications. This covers the majority of Asian vehicles sold since 2004. GF-6A oils are backward compatible with GF-1 oils. Also, new GF-6A oils can be used for most Asian vehicles as far back as model year 1992.”

European car manufacturers still abide by the standards set by the European Automobile Manufacturer’s Association (ACEA). ILSAC GF-6 oils do not have an equivalent ACEA rating. Some oils will carry both an ILSAC and ACEA rating on the bottle.

Thanks, Dave - it looks like I'll be sticking with the API SN+ 0W-20 until Nissan decides to approve this for the 2.0 L USA version of their engine. I still have 23 months + of the warranty to consider and using an unapproved oil will certainly be an excuse to give me the boot should I have a problem down the road. Maybe by the time the warranty expires, Nissan will decide that GF-6A is approved - who knows.
