This popped up the other day as we were on our way out, car's driving perfectly fine, but the orange/amber light is on steady and wouldn't go off after turning the car off and on again.

I've not checked it since saturday, but any thoughts on what it may be?
I need to plug in to check the codes its throwing, but I've got to find an OBD reader first.

Its a 2012 plate 1.5dci Quashqai.

You will definitely need the codes read, otherwise it's a pure guess, and you could end up throwing a lot of money at it.

If its a diesel you are immediately in the exhaust system ...commonly. DPF/Turbo...related piping/valves/sensors

I would dispute that, sorry. There are also a number of things on the fuel system that can cause the eml to come on including injectors, maf sensors etc. You definitely need a code reader.

thanks all, read the codes and got P0202 - injector issue, cleared the code and it went away, but need to take it for a good long drive to make sure - no performance issues when it did come up which suggests it could be the connector needing cleaning, so if it reoccurs I'll try cleaning first before having to get it checked out by a mechanic.
