Gear Shift will not move from “P” to “D”

I went out today, didn't have any issue with the shifter but a warning light poped up an orange (!) and sometime when I put the ebrake on it blinks and sometimes it doesn't

Has the car stopped completely before you pull the parking brake up?

Yes, I've even put the car in Park

Can you check your car handbook as mine is likely different (later year & non Auto Box). Instruments and controls Section - Warning Lights.

I'm sorry but I don't get why you've sent me this. As I applied the ebrake before turning the car off and when it has completely stopped and I release it after I put it in drive when the engine is on. of course while always pressing the brake paddle.

And sorry I don't have the auto box in my model

When I checked the handbook it said it had something to do with the brakes, and after I changed the front brake pads the warning light was still on until Friday but on Saturday I started to have the problem moving the shifter from P to D. (the rear brake pads are new, changed about 3000 km or so)

I don't have the auto box either

If you read the Manual Page I sent it stated it was for Manual / Auto Boxes and was just trying to help the same as the other members. If it is of no help then don’t read it - Dave

I'm very appreciative of anyone's help even if it doesn't help. Taking time and suggesting things that might lead to fix my issue is very much appreciated

Auto Box = automatic gearbox. The P and D shifter is the clue
