Hi there
I own Tekna epower for the last month…
I want to ask advice of how to drive it.I have e-pedal on and always on ECO.Do you think that’s the best way?
The first time I put gas on it it said 1014km.The second time (after a big journey) it said 900km and the hirs time 850km.
What am I doing wrong? I need it to show 1000km again…

Hi Toxic,

There is no one way fits all scenario. It all depends on circumstances.

On motorways where cruising is the best way, it's ECO + D. This mode has no brake regeneration when you lift off the accelerator. If you are using cruse control then make sure to go to settings and enable the eco modes for cruise control. It will make accelerations much more slow and progressive instead of quick and harsh.

In town e-pedal or B modes will help you regenerate more from the start stops.

On country roads B will help to keep your speed stable.

On descends B will control your speed better.

Other general tips:
Don't accelerate quickly and brake harshly. Try to look far ahead and anticipate traffic flow or turns and make speed adjustments way earlier than needed.
Try to keep your power meter at a max of 20-30%.
If you are approaching hills use the EV mode to get the battery as low as possible when you reach the top so that you have space for regen during the descend and not waste it.
If you find the acceleration on ECO mode too weak, don't use it. Better use Standard or Sport otherwise you will use the accelerator more than needed and end up consuming more fuel and left wanting.
To learn how to accelerate correctly use ECO mode and go to the eco pedal screen (scroll down in consumption screen). Train your foot to always stay in the green area, in 2 bars even better. When you learn how to control you foot then change to whatever mode you prefer.
When braking, don't allow the blue part in your power meter to reach the end always keep around half, this will help you to learn how softly you should brake. If you reach the end the physical brakes will engage and you will lose energy. Safety first obviously.

Keep in mind that road conditions, elevation, temperatures etc will always have an impact too

Hope this helps

alexanderkrik, with my little experience so far i agree totally with all you said, except from the bold.

I think that there is regen also with D when you lift the gas pedal, but there isn't so much as with B or (more obvious) e-pedal. I tell this because i saw in the gauge of power meter that the indicator goes to blue zone (not so easily as with B or e-pedal),when you lift suddenly your foot from the accelerator (especially if you have a high velocity).I think also that in all hybrid systems there is regen everytime you lift the gas,as you "roll in"

Hi Panormus, you are right about D mode having a little bit of regen. The combination of D + Eco is when no regen is happening only. It's almost like changing to neutral when driving a manual car. You can find this info in a graph in the Nissan Driver's guide app. Download it on your phone, download the latest info for Qashqai (It has two versions). Go to quick reference - e-Power - Drive modes. The app has a lot of useful info about the car and it's very easy to read.

Coasting in D mode ECO is amazing. Just rolls on and on! Also from a battery perspective, epedal on in B mode ECO gives you pretty good engine off times.

If you do not switch on E Pedel nissan QashQai epower, what is the difference between D & B modes?

B gives you more regen braking than D, and ePedal gives more than B.

In D mode, when you lift your foot off the gas pedal, the car will just coast, it will not brake-to-regen. However when you do apply the brakes, it will regen and charge the battery. You can see it on the energy meter as well, when you lift your foot off the gas, it will go back to 0%, or slightly in to the blue. But when you brake, then it will properly go in to the blue/regen.

In B, when you lift your foot off the gas pedal, the car will start to brake-to-regen and it will charge the battery, the energy meter will go to blue.

When e-Pedal is ON, then when you lift your foot off the gas pedal, the braking is more aggressive, hence more regen.
