Hi - this is my first post and I'm not very tech or car savvy, so please forgive any mistakes.

I'm also in a state of shock as garage just emailed me about last week's service and bill came to over £1000 !!!

Labour was a total of £90 which I assume is 2 hours work for the whole service. Not a bad price for that !

Then I looked into the detail I saw that they have maybe made a mistake on the oil cost.

C4 5w30 Engine Oil 6 units @ £34.41 = £206.46, plus VAT = £247.75

Anyone any idea what the oil (parts not labour) should come to as I'm going to contest this bill ?

Ouch oil is around £35 for 4ltrs and the car takes 4.8ltrs. Filters oil air and pollen around £10 each. Think next service you'll be doing it yourself

So minus your Labour & Oil cost of £337.75 what was the other £662.25 spent on to get a bill of over £1000?

I'm confused too. Perhaps we could see the full breakdown?

Nissan dealers generally work to fixed price servicing. https://www.nissan.co.uk/owners/nissan- ... -care.html - £389 for a Major Diesel service.

Labour at £90 is cheap - that's probably less than one hour! Perhaps it's not a Nissan dealer?

No, not a Nissan dealer but a local garage. Bill includes MOT and brakes which accounts for much of the £££
I emailed them asking them to double check that ridiculous charge for the oil.
Below is a snapshot with breakdown of bill (20% VAT charge brings it to over £1000)

When booking your service you should always tell... anything over the basic service phone me garages are always looking for other jobs that bring in easy money I worked years ago at a BL main dealer and was always taught that

FWIW after paying my Volvo dealer their price for oil the first time I had the car serviced, thereafter I bought the exact same oil online for half their cost and they simply used it without complaint. They might have muttered under their breath, but they didn't say anything to me. I haven't yet had a service on my QQ but anyway I've bought the service plan.

It's just another way of making money - and when you can save 50% by buying a like-for-like product, who wouldn't?

£75 for 5l (or £13.60 x5 for 1 litre). The garage has either made a hideous mistake (suggest that to them) or they have hideously ripped you off.
