Hello, I've had the E-Power Techna (2023) model for
around 2 weeks now. I always have it in the regenerative braking mode, on eco, with the E-Pedal activated. Most of my journeys the engine is only running for short amounts as the pedal and regenerative braking charge the battery enough for me. All this, yet my MPG is ridiculously low. What am I doing wrong?

Depends also from the type of roads that you drive. If there are uphills (also those with a little incline) or in highway with high velocity, the e-pedal and B don't help. In these situations, is better for the economy to have eco and D (let the car do "coasting"). Also low temperatures are not in favour for economy run.

This is my experience from 14.000km in QQ e-power acenta premium.

On the User Manual it says to use D on highway, and B in City driving. When you switch to Eco, it will give you a guide and a green bar to get better fuel efficiency. However, Eco does nerf the throttle response a bit, so keep it in mind if you are in a traffic overtaking or entering roundabout that it would feel sluggish. D Mode lets you coast, B Mode applies slight brake when you lift foot off the pedal and starts to regen, while e-Pedal is proper braking to regen. In winters the e-Power doesn't do very well, as it does not have an electric heater, rather the heating is done by the engine, so if you have heating ON then the engine will run more than usual. The advertised MPG by Nissan is 53.3 mpg but even Carwow reviewed and found the real world mpg to be 45 mpg which has been my experience as well. I did have lower mpg at around 39 when I had the brake shim issue (known issue in forums), once the shims were replaced and the brake squeal was rectified then I had around 45 city and 50 highway.

Mine has done 10k miles now and I always average 54-55mpg (indicated) per full tank. I live in a village so most journeys are min. 8 miles. Only ever drive it in Standard mode in D mode at higher speeds and B in town or when I know I’m about to slow down. I sometimes drop it into sport when going uphill. Never use Eco, feels like the handbrake is stuck on in that mode. Never use E pedal either. I tend to waft around these days so the “Power” level rarely goes over 30. Last winter it dropped into the mid-high 40s when the temps dropped.

Lots of short journeys from cold will give you a poor mpg. Check your tyre pressures too.

I’d try resetting the trip computer, just in case you’ve inherited the mpg from the last owner?

Have had the car for just over a year now. I keep a " brim to brim" record of fuel consumption. My worst recorded was 44.9mpg in January this year, best was 55.9mpg.
Overall 52 fillups and 23,300 miles I have averaged 52mpg. A lot better than the 32mpg from my old Ford Kuga.
Most journeys are from West Sussex to SW Essex

E power has a heater. You can find it in the manual. But the energy consumption is too high to be obtained from the battery and therefore the engine must always run when it is heating.

Where in the manual did you find that?

The heating block is powered by water from the thermal engine and there is an electric resistance to heat faster. The J12 158hp also has this electric resistance.

The heat gets through from cold much quicker than my last hybrids ( Hyundai and Toyota) the above is probably the explanation and its very useful when clearing condensation etc. Costs some fuel of course.

Got this answered by Nissan, This is the e-Power's heater, it's electric, it draws a lot of power but it can run on the 2.1kWh battery pack alone. Here's the catch; the 2.1kWh battery pack needs to be at it's optimum temperature of +15 to +45 C to output its peak power to be able to power the heater, if the battery is colder than +15C then it can not ouput peak power and the engine turns On and powers the heater till battery is warmed enough.
