Qashqai Model: Mk.2 Qashqai - J11 (2013–2017)

Post by emmjay98 »

Hi, I have recently purchased a Qashqai 1.5dCi N-Connecta.My wife suffers from problems with the nerves in her face and these get worse as soon as the car starts moving. The problem is far worse with this car than any other we have had.I wondered if anyone has any suggestions (short of selling the car) which might improve the situation.
Many thanks.
Mick

Consult a GP perhaps.

Is there any obvious vibration which would exacerbate her problem? You could get tyres checked for balance.

Possibly static buildup, which is worse in warm dry weather. I very often get a strong sting on hand or arm when getting out of car. The old fashioned remedy was to use an earth strap or light chain hanging from earth point on chassis to ground.

That's an interesting theory Billgo. I remember the old anti-static strips people used to have hanging off the back of the car. I've never had a static shock from my QQ but Mick's wife already has a nerve problem and as the seats in the N-Connecta are fabric, I wonder if they could be better insulated, say a leather-type cover? Or a thin rubber cushion to sit on? Granted it's a bit Heath Robinson but it would be a fairly inexpensive experiment. Also, it may be possible to get a plug-in ioniser in the car to reduce electrostatic charges.

Static is also a problem with supermarket trolleys, and many have a light chain fitted to touch ground. Some people are more prone to static than others. I remember many years ago when walking long carpeted corridor to my hotel room and a quite large spark would jump between key and doorlock, well before the introduction of keycards.
