That sounds promising then. Was that the ultimate warranty you got to take it to 7 years?

Finally received the car back - garage said they couldn’t recreate the steering problem and I would just need to ring them to rebook it in if it was still an issue. Got in the car and the minute I started it up the steering was really noisy! It was Christmas Eve eve and they were closing early and on skeleton staff so I’ve taken the car and will have to book it in! Really disappointed with this car and annoyed the garage had it for two weeks and didn’t repair an issue I told them about!!!!

We had a new Peugeot 307 many years ago and it had a high pitched noise when I moved the steering wheel. It was like running a finger round a wine glass. As soon as my son got in the back seat he asked what the high pitched noise was. I took it in to the dealer and the foreman came out and listened and said he couldn't hear anything. He got an oil can and squirted a drop in the steering and asked if it was fixed. He seemed to be implying that I was hearing things and wasn't taking me seriously at all. I persisted and they said they would take it in and have a look. I phoned to arrange a day and took a day off work but they kept stalling saying the courtesy car hadn't been returned. I got fed up with their attitude and went to another dealer who was in the same Group. The polish mechanic listened and took me seriously. Booked the car in and when I went to pick it up it was still in the same place and hadn't even been looked at. I never wanted to deal with Peugeot again after that. I know how frustrating it must be for you and hope that Nissan will fix it for you soon.

I’ve got to say that now I’ve got the car back and driving it I do love it!!!

In fairness to nissan I’ve had absolutely no problems with getting the car repaired under warranty with the problems. I’m quite hopeful that if they repair the steering noise that will be it. I notice it drives lovely now it’s had the turbo replaced too - I knew the engine was noisier before the turbo went but didn’t realise how bad it was!!!

And thanks for all the replies been good to get some reassurance from other owners!

Further update!!!

The car was booked in today to have the steering grommets replaced - done within an hour and I was given the keys back! “Amazing service” I thought but he came with bad news - the grommets hadn’t resolved the problem and the issue is from the wheel struts which will need another return to the garage and 3.5 hours work!!!

I just can’t believe there’s something else going wrong with the car after 8 months of owning it. Sending a letter to nissan complaints this afternoon- I’ve never known anything like it!!!

I think Nissan dealers have a serious communication problem and don’t appear to be recording problems/fixes. There are many well known fixes for most of the problems we keep having and they are well documented on this forum too, but some dealers clearly have no idea how to fix these common faults. Luckily my dealer isn’t one of them.
I think you will find once the strut gaiters have been replaced it will be ok.

Maybe Nissan don't want to communicate these problems!!! Although must cost nissan a fortune fixing all these issues. I'd previously always had Ford focuses and only ever had a few minor warranty repairs. Nothing like this!!!

Cars booked in at end of February to have struts replaced. I put complaint in to nissan about the car and the gentleman rang me back and said there was nothing they could do because they'd fixed everything under warranty! I was fuming! I condensed my complaint and put it on their Facebook page - amazingly the next day head office rang and agreed to extend the warranty by one year. Although I'd originally asked for the ultimate warranty I've decided I'm happy with this - gives me time to make sure the car isn't going to be riddled with issues!
