I have recently purchased a 2017 Qashqai no voice activation however the book says it is ‘handsfree’ bluetooth, but this is not the case as for me to make a call I need to take my hands of the steering while and fumble around the centre screen to find the contact I wish to dial, rather dangerous and out dates.

My phone is connected to Bluetooth, it does work with incoming calls and I can use ‘hey google’ to make an outgoing call but only if it is switched to the Bluetooth screen from the aux button, again I have to switch from radio take eyes of road and so on to make the stitch.

I have tried numerous times to use the voice button by long pressing and waiting for a beep or bong sound to then instruct my phone to call someone, this button doesn’t work for anything other than receiving a call.

My phone is a Samsung galaxy s5 I have also tried Samsung 7 and iPhone 6 none of them would connect to the voice button so I could make an outgoing call.

I purchased this car for the safety features yet here I am having to pull over (as Nissan suggested) to make a call.
It’s certainly not handfree bluetooth nor safe for making calls

Any suggestions much appreciated to work around this useless feature

I’m in Australia

Devilrex, welcome ! When you mention a 2017 QQ I assume you mean the new model J11B. There has been discussions on this point on another Post which I have attached for your reference (page4 >), you can also use the „Search“ Facility - hope this helps Dave ;)

It could just be that's tge way the car is set up for the Australian market. Different countries have different setups.

If you're using Android then you should have the ability to tell the phone/car to call (A contact) from the Okay or Hey Google command. This only works if your data/WiFi is switched on. Although this works without data on in some countries depending on the make and model of the vehicle. Also you will (if memory serves) have to have connected the Nissan App. Although I may be wrong in that respect but worth trying if not.

Thank you, my user manual tells me I can make and receipt Bluetooth hands free calls yet I can not do that via the switch.
I attemp to including an image from my user manual.

I have tried with Samsung phones and IPhone, all set with wifi and Bluetooth on and mobile data and locations and so on. Tried plugged in and unplugged, steering wheel switch useless to make an outgoing call so it’s not in fact as it says hand free at all.

Devilrex, it looks like you have picked up the same problem as found by the New Owners in the UK. The question is, is this a planned removal of the old „HandsOff“ system which is not good for safe driving. What is weird is that the Manuals Show the facility. Have you contacted either your Dealer or NCS on this problem as it does appear something has been missed and is not meeting the Nissan Specs - Dave ;)

Hi Dave, I have contacted the dealer 3 times about this issue, cars a week and a half old. I paid for a ‘hands free’ car, it states it very clearly in the manual, I have the car but not the handsfree so they now need to deliver on what I paid for!

The dealers response was.
The manual I am reading is an international one and not available in Australia.
Nissan shows its specifications on Australian page that the car has Bluetooth / handsfree yet I have not got that.
I’m not sure how they will resolve this problem but I am NOT going out to buy a seperate Bluetooth handsfree kit to use in the car, now if the car was 15yrs old I would!

From the specs on Nissan australia

And it goes on and on about how I can use the steering wheel button to activate my handsfree call with my mobile.
Yet the function is not working, nor is nissanconnect apps.
