collected my 2012 62 plate n-tec+ on saturday.
all good, but noticed a few little niggly bits.

the buttons on the steering wheel are a bit sticky, pressing them feel sticky and they don't always spring back up quickly or smoothly.
this is on both sides. i suspect they are ditry and have got sticky.
pressing the "cancel" button on the right or the "i" button on the left firmly also causing the horn to operate.

is there an easy way to inspect them and give them a contact clean if required?

May be the garage sprayed some dashboard finish spray that caused this; some years ago I had same issue with
built in mobile phone where keys became sticky/ unusable.
You could try a solvent spray such as WD40 or similar- go sparingly I'd suggest to see if this washes off
the residue.

Is wd40 advisable?
Isn't it likely to corrode the circuits or adversely affect the airbag circuit?

might be worth a try as long as it won't affect the airbag circuitry around it.

Its designed to clean electrical contacts & many other things electrical, so its designed for circuitry in mind. Its a solvent / degreaser, so you need to keep it away from things that need to stay lubricated.

So the question is...
Is there anything within the steering wheel area that does require lubrication.

I'll be attempting this without removing the steering wheel.

i tried that contact cleaner, and it seemed to work for a day or so, but the stickiness is back again.
pressing the volume up button feels like it's got chewing gum as it's slow sluggish to move in either direction.

Just a thought, are the buttons removable? I.e. pop off like the keys on a computer keyboard. If they do then just pop them off & clean with a wet sponge / rag etc.
